Evodius is a Tanzanian social entrepreneur who has been supporting young women and girls (most of them being survivors of gender-based violence) through economic empowerment programs such as vocational skills training and affordable loans provided by his organization, Hakizetu. The organization has also established 17 credit and savings groups with 476 young women and girls, which have been instrumental in enabling them to start and grow businesses, invest in education, and improve their standards of living. The vocational training programs have helped to empower 132 young women and girls, providing them with marketable skills to secure employment in various sectors. Hakizetu also provides seed funding to young women and girls entrepreneurs and groups, leading to increased income and employment opportunities in their communities. In 2022, 93 young women and girls were supported with $ 24,261. Evodius has received national and international recognition, including the East Africa Philanthropy Award in 2021 for his efforts in supporting young women and girls to recover economically from the impact of Covid-19.
