Charles Bwanika is the Founder and CEO of Farm Kiosk, an Agritech social enterprise in Uganda that uses its mobile platform to provide agricultural value-added services to smallholder farmers, while also promoting climate-smart farming and environmental conservation. The organization has impacted over 8,635 smallholder farmers and 5,800 households, formed and trained 42 youth groups and 63 women groups, and trained over 730 community leaders and activists in nine districts in Uganda. Farm Kiosk has also influenced the planting of over 15,000 indigenous fruit trees and trained 1,300 Community Climate Ambassadors in nine Districts in Uganda. The organization contributes to creating a network of service value chain amongst the sector actors, and has created 5% of employment opportunities in the agribusiness space for young people and women in the 9 districts served by the organization. Recently, Bwanika was recognized as the National Youth Champion under the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) & Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) organized Youth Inspiring Youth in Agriculture Initiative (YIYA) and One of the 40 young people transforming communities with their selfless work in New Vision’s 2022 Edition Top 40 Under 40.
